Just a quick note to update you on Elo’s progress during COVID-19.
I am very proud of the several ways in which Elo is contributing to the global effort to address the coronavirus pandemic. We are prioritizing and accelerating production of touchscreens used for ventilators and other critical medical devices. We are also scaling up production of medical touchscreen monitors and computers for tele-medicine, medical carts, and temporary medical facilities. Our modular I-Series Wallaby kiosks are being deployed for hospital check-in and self-diagnosis triage kiosks to help hospitals direct patients to proper areas without the need for personal assistance, freeing up critical medical staff. We have updated our cleaning methods for touchscreens instructions to include specifics for COVID-19 and are sharing this information around the world. And, we are donating 1,000 particulate respirator N95 masks to NYC area hospitals this week.
In other core markets such as retail, restaurant, entertainment, and industrial, we are seeing innovation enabled by self-ordering and self-service helping with social distancing and converting from in-store environments to pick-up and delivery. Elo is built on strong customer relationships and channel partnerships. During this time, we are all helping each other turn crisis into creativity and innovation.
I’m particularly impressed by the job our global supply chain team has done to achieve 100% output capacity in all our factories by next week. We have recovered faster than many other companies, which has allowed us to get priority in logistics and shipping. While we are prioritizing healthcare related orders, we are also quickly shipping out the backlog caused by prior production delays. Soon, we will be back to normal lead times on most products. Thanks for all your patience during this time.
Elo is an “essential business” given our extensive set of solutions in healthcare, medical, pharmacy, grocery, food, government security, and more. It is important that we – together with our supply chain and distribution partners – have been able to maintain operations during this time. Following the guidelines of WHO, CSC, and other agencies, we are taking extreme precaution via cleaning, distancing, screening, and other safe practices. For all Elo offices and non-location-critical jobs around the world, we are 100% work-from-home, and otherwise operating normally.
You can be assured that our product development teams are also running at full speed, though I’ll admit there may a few home garage and basement development labs evolving. As we head into the 50th anniversary of our company and the invention of the touchscreen next year, we are all reminded that it all started in a home basement lab back in 1971.
I’m very proud of our team, partners, and strong customer relationships during this time. Please don’t hesitate to contact us or reach out and please be safe.
